CBD and Inflammation: Everything You need to Know

Let’s talk about this 12-letter word that is most likely flying under your radar, without you even knowing, but wreaking havoc on your health and well-being: inflammation.

That’s right. From acne, to cancer, and everything in between, chronic inflammation can play a massive role in certain diseases, ailments, and pain.

More and more people are suffering from inflammatory type issues. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) reports diseases associated with chronic inflammation will continually increase for the next 30 years across the nation. Research even reveals that 3 out of every 5 people worldwide die due to chronic inflammatory diseases.

But what exactly is inflammation? Why is it so destructive, what can you do to fight back, and why are thousands of people turning to CBD oil?

That’s exactly what we’re going to cover in this article. So let’s get to it!

What Exactly Is Inflammation?

To put it simply, inflammation is the immune system’s response to injury and infection. It’s the body’s way of dealing with damaged tissues. There are 2 specific types of inflammation:

Acute Inflammation: What Is It?

With acute inflammation, think paper cuts, stubbed toes, and closing your fingers in the door. Terrible, right?!

After such an injury, your body goes into repair/healing mode. As part of the healing process, your body’s immune system triggers an inflammatory response. The purpose of this inflammation is simple  to send a supply of white blood cells to the affected area (white blood cells are responsible for fighting infection and healing injuries).

It’s important to remember that this type of inflammation is actually good for your body.  But because it’s also accompanied with redness, pain, swelling, and even the sensation of heat, it’s helpful to remember one other thing too… acute inflammation is short-term and will subside on its own.  Just give those white blood cells time to do their job!

So inflammation is good then, right? Not so fast!

While acute inflammation is beneficial for healing, chronic inflammation is a completely different story.

Chronic Inflammation: How Is It Different?

Unlike acute inflammation, chronic inflammation (also referred to as persistent low grade inflammation), can cause a lot of damage to your body. Remember those white blood cells? Well, in the case of chronic inflammation, instead of solving the problem, they are the problem!

One of the worst things about chronic inflammation is the fact that it doesn’t subside on its own when it’s supposed to. Instead of going away after the healing has taken place, it persists.  As a result, your body’s white blood cells actually end up attacking healthy tissues and organs. But even worse, sometimes the body’s inflammatory response gets triggered when there isn’t an internal threat or injury at all!

Chronic inflammation is scary. According to medical experts, chronic inflammation could be “the common factor in many diseases.” If left unchecked, it can lead to long-term health problems like coronary artery disease, diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer's just to name a few.

Ways to Combat Inflammation Today

Considering inflammation’s massive effect on our bodies' health and well being, it’s extremely important to do everything we can to keep it in check.

Luckily, there are several things you can do to help lower inflammation. Let’s run through a couple of them below!

  1. Get Enough Sleep:  Poor sleep can lead to inflammation. That’s just another reason to make sure you’re getting enough Zzz’s.

  2. Change Up Your Diet: Research shows that certain foods can be anti-inflammatory, like tomatoes, olive oil, nuts, fatty fish, and green leafy vegetables. Try to avoid eating foods that can trigger inflammation like french fries, soda, and refined carbohydrates.

  3. Use CBD Oil: Studies show that CBD oil can reduce inflammation, and help alleviate dozens of inflammation-related conditions.

CBD and Inflammation: Why Are Thousands Turning to This Oil For Help?

By now, you’ve probably heard that CBD can help with everything from cancer to insomnia.  But no matter what you’ve heard, it's important to understand why CBD is working as a remedy for all sorts of ailments. So what is it about CBD that makes it so versatile?

Researchers are still working to understand everything that CBD can do, but one thing is becoming really clear: CBD is helping reduce inflammation.

No wonder farmers are having a difficult time keeping up with demand! Because unlike modern medicine, which only treats symptoms, CBD addresses the root cause of disease and illness.

But how exactly is CBD reducing inflammation?

CBD Oil Helps Reduce Inflammation Through the ECS

Thanks to modern research, we now know that inflammation is one of the biggest factors in disease. That’s why it’s so important to understand the connection between CBD and inflammation.

Ready for the secret? It’s hidden in plain sight. In case you didn’t know, CBD stands for Cannabidiol. And why is that important? Because Cannabidiol is the perfect natural supplement to boost your body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

The ECS system is an important network inside the body that’s responsible for regulating a variety of functions to promote homeostasis. But the function(s) that are most important to us, at least for the purpose of this article, are the inflammation and neuroinflammation functions.

To keep it simple, sometimes your Endocannabinoid System gets depleted. When this happens, it’s ability to regulate inflammation is impaired and the cycle of chronic inflammation begins… And we all know that doesn’t end well!

So how do you keep your Endocannabinoid System healthy? Just as you would with any of the systems in your body — keep a healthy lifestyle, and take your vitamins! And that’s where CBD oil comes in. Just as probiotics are to your gut-health, CBD oil is to your Endocannabinoid System.

CBD Oil & Inflammation: The Powerhouse of Benefits

The connection between CBD oil and inflammation is real.  But just understanding this connection is only the beginning. In this article we have touched on how CBD helps with inflammation generally. What we haven’t done, at least not yet, is dive into the specifics of each inflammation induced illness and how CBD can help to deliver real healing.

Sound interesting? Believe us, it is. And we’re going to prove it with a series of articles that will change the way you think about disease and illness forever.
